The Apollo Theatre is located on Shaftesbury Avenue, generally considered the most important street for theatre in the entire capital with the Lyric, Gielgud, Queen’s, Palace and Shaftesbury theatres all being found at points along the road. It also leads on to Chinatown and street artists descend upon its pavements in the evening.
The address of the theatre is:
31 Shaftesbury Avenue
…by Tube and bus
The nearest tube station to the Apollo Theatre is Piccadilly Circus, which is accessible from both the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines and roughly a 3 minute walk from the theatre. Alternatively, it is a 5 minute walk to the theatre from Leicester Square tube station, which can be reached on the Northern and Piccadilly lines, or some main line trains stop at Charing Cross Station which is a 12 minute walk. If you would rather travel by bus there are several routes that stop on Shaftesbury Avenue (check the board on the front of the bus for details). For tube and bus journeys, you can use an Oyster or day travelcard to save money and can continue using it to see other London attractions on the same day.
…by car and taxi
For those wishing to drive to the theatre, the nearest car park is at Denman Street in Soho. However, this can be a fairly expensive way of getting to the theatre as the tariff currently stands at £1.80 per 15 minutes and it is often busy. You could find yourself better off hailing a taxi from any rank around the city if you would rather not use public transport.
